About Virgin Media

Virgin Media is the UK's second-largest broadband provider and the only major ISP to run on its own dedicated cable network rather than relying on Openreach. This gives Virgin Media a significant speed advantage in areas they cover — their M500 and Gig1 packages routinely deliver some of the fastest real-world speeds in the country. Virgin Media merged with O2 in 2021 (forming Virgin Media O2), opening up added benefits for O2 mobile customers. Coverage is mostly urban and suburban — if you're in a Virgin Media area, they're often the fastest option.

All speed data is sourced from real user tests submitted to BroadbandSpeedTest.uk.com. Speeds shown are median values — not averages — making them resilient to outliers. Minimum 3 tests required for an ISP to appear. Last updated hourly.
