About BroadbandSpeedTest.uk.com
BroadbandSpeedTest.uk.com is a free UK broadband speed test. We help people check whether they are getting the speeds they pay for, and we publish what our anonymised test results show about broadband across the UK.
Who runs this site
BroadbandSpeedTest.uk.com is operated by Dot Com Ventures, registered in the United Kingdom. The site launched in February 2026. Everything on it β the speed test, the rankings, the reports and the guides β is built and maintained by the BroadbandSpeedTest.uk.com team.
When a guide says βBy the BroadbandSpeedTest.uk.com teamβ, it was written and reviewed by us. Each guide shows the date it was first published and, where it has changed since, the date of its last real update. Where we quote national statistics we name the source β usually Ofcom's Connected Nations report.

How our data is collected
Every number on this site comes from speed tests that visitors run here. The test runs in your browser against Cloudflare's global edge network. When it finishes, the result β download, upload, ping and jitter β is saved together with the broadband provider and approximate town worked out from your IP address.
- Your IP address is truncated on our server before it is stored (the last part is replaced with zero), so it no longer identifies a single connection.
- We keep only the postcode district (for example βNN1β), never a full postcode.
- We don't ask for your name or email to run a test.
- Obvious spam, fake and impossible results are filtered out before they reach our statistics.
So far the dataset holds 7,990 UK speed tests covering 126 broadband providers.
The full detail β test modes, how each figure is calculated, how we filter outliers and the limits of the data β is on our methodology page.
How the site is funded
The speed test is free to use. The site is paid for by advertising, including ad space that businesses can book directly on our advertise page. Some links to broadband providers are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up through them. That costs you nothing extra.
Advertising and affiliate deals never change our numbers. ISP rankings, town pages and monthly reports are calculated automatically from test results; no provider can pay to change its position.
